Abstract
The successful management of the cancer of the maxilla, regardless of the method employed, has been traditionally regarded as difficult and hazardous procedure. With recent improvement in the treatment of the maxillary cancer and reconstructive procedure, physical and psychological recovery as well as restoring physiological function and aesthetics has become possible. The split rib bone graft has following advantages;

The donor defect can be recovered by reformation of new rib because the ribs possess an inherent great ability for oeteogenesis. The split rib bone is so easy to handle that it can be fitted to the creared defect successfully without difficulty. Authors have good result in the management of the mixillary squamous cell carcinoma with total maxillectomy and immediate reconstruction by using the split rib bone graft and maxillofacial prosthesis.
